Keyseating machines

Development

After accumulating years of experience in repairing and reconditioning keyseating machines from every manufacturer, we have developed our own keyseating machines. This includes taking account of requests from experienced users.

The focus is always on particularly simple and, therefore, fast operation when constructing and improving our keyseating machines. Request our reference list and hear this confirmed by actual users.

Special features

  • Particulary quick and easy to set up
  • Easy to operate even for inexperienced staff
  • Setup errors minimised
  • Low maintenance requirement

Technical specifications

  • Automatically correct positioned and repeatable clamping of the tools
  • Stroke setting by direct entry or "teach in"
  • Direct input for keyway depth setting without test cutting
  • Stroke limitation for smaller toolsets
  • Central power flow
  • Variable return speed
  • The cutter can be lifted right out of the keyway for the return stroke
  • Cutting force monitoring and limitation ('...easy' product range only)
  • Parameter data sets can be stored ('...easy' product range only)

Keyseating
cutters and tools

Keyseating cutters

We manufacture cutters for keyseating machines from almost every manufacturer. Cutters can be supplied at short notice in any width tolerance (to ±0.005mm) and in custom dimensions.

Cutters for custom profiles such as spline profiles, internal teeth, square, hexagonal, radial grooves, tangential grooves etc can be manufactured within a few days. If required we can supply coated cutters and cutters with carbide cutting edge.

Material

We use ASP 2060 (M.No. 1.3241) for the material for the cutting edges. This high-alloyed, high-speed steel is powder-metallurgically manufactured. The very fine structure and extremely low proportion of dross minimises microscopic eruptions on the cutting edge, with significant impact on the lifetime of the tools.

Tools

We can also supply tools (e.g. columns, also called guidebars, cutterbars, feedbars, clamping pieces, centring cones etc) for keyseating machines from almost any manufacturer.

Please request appropriate tools from us by quoting the original type designation.

Cutter data sheets

The following data sheet contains the dimensions of the draw knives that we manufacture ourselves and adapt to keyseating machines from the following manufacturers:

Slotting tools

Balzat or elmass

Areas of application

Our standard slotting tools and holders are designed for use in vertical slotting machines. As there is a vast number of machines and adapters, we cannot guarantee that our slotting tool holders will fit your slotting machine. Please use the data sheet to check the dimensions.

If necessary we can also manufacture custom slotting tool holders for you. We also offer holders for use on lathes and machining centres.

Special features

  • Clamping in correct position for repeatable precision
  • Cutting edge material made of ASP 2060 (PM-HSSE)
  • Can be supplied at short notice in any width tolerance

Custom dimensions

We stock blanks in a wide range of sizes so we can supply you with slotting tools for custom profiles such as teeth, spline profiles, squares, hexagons, unusual grooves etc at short notice.

We also manufacture slotting tools to fit Balzat and Elmass slotting machines.

Hard broaching
tools

The problem

When workpieces are heat-treated, the keyways often display warpage subsequently. In most cases the keyway width falls in slightly and the width tolerance is no longer correct.

As the change in size is not always the same, the problem cannot be solved by simply machining the keyway a little wider beforehand.

Our solution

With our hard broaching tools, the keyway width is calibrated according to the heat treatment. This means that a maximum 0.06mm can be stripped from each side using standard tools.

The tool

The holder matches a keyway broaching tool in terms of dimensions. The shaft is finished to DIN 1415 as standard. Dimensions such as body width, length to first tooth and total height are machined to your requirements.

The cutting inserts are manufactured from carbide. There are three cutters on each side, each overlaying one another. The insert is accepted into the holder with positive locking and fixed centrally from a keyway width of 6mm using two cylindrical pins.

Dimensions

The dimensions and other information are available here in brief.
